ABOUT MICHAEL & PRINCIPAL TEACHER CO.

Michael Singletary Consulting, LLC

Hello and Welcome to PTC! I'm Michael, the face behind Principal Teacher Co. of Michael Singletary Consulting, LLC.

It's hard to believe I've been an educator for almost 19 years now! I've taught all grades from K-8th, with a focus in ELA.

Currently I am the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment & School Improvement in my district.

I'm a former K-5 principal, assistant principal, and instructional coach.

In addition, For the past 5 years I've served as an undergraduate and graduate adjunct professor for the Department of Reading Education at the university level.

Over the past 4 years I have made it my mission to learn all that I can about reading science research and how to shift our district and school-wide literacy structures instructional to substantially maximize reading outcomes for all students.

I LOVE all things reading education and instructional leadership! My passion is supporting educators (higher education, school leaders, instructional coaches and reading teachers) in bridging reading science instructional frameworks and MTSS, and instructional leadership to daily practice!

I am so fortunate to be able to extend my support to teachers locally within my district and state, and globally via online & face to face coaching and consulting.

Through coaching and consulting I support school leaders, literacy coaches and reading teachers in navigating and implementing a district, school and classroom literacy model that is grounded in the Science of Reading.

Specifically, I support districts, schools and classroom teachers in creating assessment and instructional systems that support tier 1, 2 and 3 differentiated, explicit and systematic instruction that WILL change student reading outcomes with implemented with consistency.

Fortunately, more and more educators are learning the importance of implementing reading science research in their classroom instruction, but many still struggle (and will continue to struggle) to piece all the new learning together to create a solid structured literacy block complete with assessment and instructional systems at the district, school and classroom level. Until we support teachers with the right professional development and the right systems, we will continue to see minimal growth in students.

Our instructional time is EXPENSIVE and our teachers are the ones who will help us turn this corner. Teachers must be smarter than any program and we can't expect them to give what they don't have. Let's equip them!

Please see my professional development offerings or email me to learn more about how I can support you, your school or district in implementing a reading science instructional framework!

I would love to chat would you!

Let's connect! Let me know how I can support you and your district!
