Literacy Instructional Coach Collaborative

We are right in the middle of major literacy shifts in our world right now as we all begin to embrace and implement Reading Science based instructional practices! My job (full-time and online business) grants me the wonderful opportunity to meet and network with so many literacy leaders around the country and the world! 

I recently attended a national literacy conference and was able to connect with so many literacy leaders from various state departments of education around the US. I truly loved every minute because I was able to learn first hand what other states, districts and schools were doing to support the massive literacy shifts that are happening! 

No matter which state was sharing their successes and challenges, one common thread surfaced over and over...and that was the tremendous need for STRONG LITERACY COACHES and literacy leaders! 

Through connecting with you all and other state and district literacy leaders, it's clear that we are all facing and solving the same literacy challenges. I also realized that there's not nearly enough support for the transitions we are asking our literacy coaches to make.  Many districts and schools are hiring literacy coaches or other literacy leadership positions for the first time, and guess what....it doesn't come with a manual! 

This critical need led me to create this new Literacy Instructional Leadership Collaborative and I'm so excited about the opportunity to network with even more literacy coaches and leaders. There's so much power in networking and collaborating, and just isn't always possible within schools or districts due to the limited number of these postions. 

This literacy group is right for you if you are a literacy coach, literacy instructional leader, literacy teacher leader, a school leader who supports literacy or an aspiring literacy leader who wants to learn and share about Reading Science based best practices and coaching.

My plan is for this collaborative group to meet via Zoom the first Sunday evening of each month at 7:00 pm (EST).  Once we get rolling, I will poll the group to see if another time works better.  

I will start with a set of literacy coaching topics that we can all come together to discuss and share, but we will be flexible and address the needs provided by the group.

-Intervention Materials (Tier 2 & 3)

-How to Support the Implementation of New Curriculum/Programs

-How to Create your Literacy Coaching Program

-Decodables-The Great, Good, Bad & Ugly

-95% Group Instructional Ecosystem Product Review

-Pillars of Literacy Explicit Instructional Routines: (Reading Science Based--Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension)

-Collaborative Problem Solving (Protocol for grade levels and/or individual students) 

-Data-based Clarity Action Planning 

-Reading Science Professional Development
